The Mi-EIS reference curriculum has been designed for training postgraduate students and business professionals in understanding and managing enterprise system implementation projects.
Curriculum structure
Because the course is being designed to adapt to each country represented by the partners on
the project (UK, China, Netherlands), the curriculum has been drawn up to
satisfy each user country’s needs, and is therefore referred to on the project
as a ‘reference curriculum’. The reference curriculum is based on the European
Credit Transfer System (ECTS) and provides a basis for specific local
implementations in different national, international and global contexts. Local
implementation of the reference curriculum may require an adaptation of the
varying teaching methods to be used in the specific context. The reference
curriculum is based on the European standard ECTS system of a two-year master
programme. The programme has 4 semesters that total to 120 European Credits,
which equates to 3360 hours of student study workload.
Teaching content
The content of the curriculum is developed through extensive research into industrial
enterprise information implementation cases in Europe and China. It is designed
by integrating the best teaching practice of the three universities. The
curriculum has several subjects fundamental to system implementation practice.
There is scope to adapt the reference curriculum to specific business sectors
and domain focus. The reference curriculum contains 8 compulsory modules, 4
electives, an integration case and a final project. The 8 modules and the final
project are:
The overall structure of the reference curriculum is shown in the table below. Electives, laboratory and integration case could be designed to meet the particular context in which the programme is implemented.
